NICE FRIDAY & SATURDAY; RAIN/STORMS SUNDAY… Overall, a mixed bag of weather is upcoming for the weekend for south Alabama and northwest Florida. Rain and thunder return on Sunday as an area of low pressure moves by to our north. Some stronger storms and heavy rain will be possible, BUT the overall severe weather risk as of now looks LOW. Good news! We’ve got all the details for you this morning. Let’s go!

SUNNY TODAY; INCREASING CLOUDINESS TOMORROW… No rain issues are expected on this Friday. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-70s across our region by 3PM. It’s all sunshine today and clear skies tonight before cloud coverage starts increasing on Saturday. Temps rise to near 77° by Saturday afternoon. There could be a few small, isolated showers around on Saturday afternoon and evening. Most of us, however, will be dry through early Sunday morning.

SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY… An area of low pressure moves through northern Mississippi and Tennessee on Sunday. This feature, along with a trailing cold front will spark numerous showers and thunderstorms across Alabama and northwest Florida on Sunday. I would not be surprised if the Storm Prediction Center introduces a Level 1 (low-end, marginal) risk of strong to severe storms valid for Sunday in the convective outlook valid for our region. Parameters, at this point, seem marginal at best. This means that atmosphere is not as conducive to support strong to severe storms, although a few isolated strong storms may happen.

I’ll keep you posted about this in the RedZone Weather app (redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download) as we approach Sunday.

NICE & WARM NEXT WEEK… While there may be a few lingering showers into Monday morning, most of the rain will likely clear out of our area to the east late Sunday night. Clouds should clear out late Monday. Temperatures will consistently be in the 60s and 70s during the daytime hours Tuesday through Thursday, with low temps in the 50s. Note that this is a bit below our climatological averages for this time of year as we should be near 81° in the afternoon with morning lows in the 60s.

See all the details, including a highly specific hourly run through of Sunday showers/storms, in your Friday #rzw forecast video… Have a great day!
