DAMAGING WINDS & HAIL POSSIBLE ACROSS CENTRAL AL… The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded much of central and northern Alabama into their Level 3 (out of 5) “enhanced risk” zone to potentially see a few stronger storms this afternoon and this evening capable of producing up to 70 mph wind gusts and golf ball size hail. Here is the latest convective outlook… Note that all of southwest Alabama & NW Florida are OUT of a severe risk area, meaning general thunderstorms are expected, but not severe weather.

MIDDAY RADAR UPDATE… As of the noon hour, small showers and thunderstorms are popping up across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Again, these storms are not expected to become severe today, but a few of the storms could produce gusty winds (25-35mph). Heavy rain and lots of lightning will happen where storms do fire up. I’ll be watching the radar closely over the next few hours. Updates will be posted here in the RedZone Weather app. Here is the Noon view of the local radar.
