DAMAGE REPORTED ACROSS REGION… The pop-up storms this evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida have been ferocious in some cases. We’re now up to 4 local storm reports. Let’s talk about what’s happening now and what’s ahead, then discuss damage.

LOUD AND PROUD STORMS CONTINUE… We’ve had multiple severe thunderstorm warnings across the region this afternoon. At the time this update is being produced at 6:15PM, big storms continue near Grove Hill, Toddtown, Perdue Hill, Gosport, Whatley, Zimco, Fulton, Huxford, Flomaton, and Magnolia Springs.

CONFIRMED REPORTS OF DAMAGE…

OPINE, AL – Several trees were blown down along AL69 in western Clarke County near the Opine community. This event happened near the intersection of Tallahatta Springs Road and AL69. This is 15-20 miles west of Thomasville.

BAGDAD, FL – The Best Western motel on Florida State Highway 87 near Bagdad got struck by lightning. Some smoke was reported, but no major fire was reported.

MILTON, FL – A commercial building in Milton was struck by lightning. No fire was reported, but damage occurred.

JACKSON, AL – Dime size hail was falling around 5:30PM as a severe thunderstorm moved through.
