Just after 4PM and numerous showers and thunderstorms continue across south Alabama and northwest Florida. So far today, only one storm close by has been deemed severe. That happened with the storm over Geneva County earlier. At this point, it’s reasonable to conclude we’ve seen the peak of the action in terms of shower and thunderstorm activity over inland areas. Storms will continue over the next several hours before we lose daytime heating, but I think new storms should have a harder time forming due to all of the abundant cloud cover now in place over much of our region.

Storms have been much more limited today in coastal/beach areas. All of us still have a chance of rain/storms before 9PM. At that point, rain chances fall to around 20% for any given spot.

Another round of showers and storms is expected on Sunday.
