SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE… Several strong to severe thunderstorms continue to push southeast across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Very large hail (in excess of 2″) fell in Andalusia over the last hour as a severe storm moved through. Storms will continue to pop up and move southeast over the next few hours. Please have a way to receive the warnings, especially if you have to be outside this afternoon! This is a detailed update concerning each storm that is on the board as of 2:10PM…

SEVERE STORM NEAR LIBERTYVILLE, ONYCHA… At the moment, the thunderstorm over central Covington County near Onycha, Red Oak, Green Bay, Opp, Libertyville, and Sanford continues to be (without question) the strongest storm in our local area. NWS Mobile has just issued a new severe thunderstorm warning for much of central and southern Covington County. This storm is the same one that produced the large, hen egg size hail near Andalusia in the last hour. This storm will continue to bring heavy rain, possible hail and damaging wind gusts, and ample lightning to Covington County over the next 30-45 minutes. Lots of lightning!

STORM NEAR HUXFORD, URIAH… The good news is the formerly severe storm that produced pea size hail near Whatley has weakened considerably. Heavy rain and lightning is happening in southern Monroe County near Uriah, Goodway, and Megargal along AL21. This storm will move into far SW Conecuh and western Escambia (AL) counties over the next few minutes. Weakening trend will likely continue! Rain will begin shortly in Brewton, Appleton, Pineview, and Flomaton.

STORMS NEAR THOMASVILLE, CAMPBELL… Heavy rain and small hail will be possible shortly near Tallahatta Springs, Chilton and Fulton as this storm moves southeast. This storm has ramped up in intensity over the last few minutes.

STORM NEAR FRANKLIN… The small storm in northern Monroe County remains weak. It is tracking southeast toward the Keith community and Tunnel Springs in northern Monroe County.
