STORMS RAPIDLY FIRING… Numerous showers and thunderstorms have popped up across the last few minutes across the interior of southwest Alabama. Storms are drifting south-southeast. This means that if you’re in places like Brewton, Atmore, Flomaton, Appleton, Poarch, Mineola, Owassa, Chatom, and Millry, be ready for heavy downpours of rain over the next hour. Lightning output is also drastically increasing with these storms. Most of us will have rain before the end of the day.

Radar updates will be posted here in the RZWeather app over the next few hours, as needed. A few storms will be on the strong side, but widespread severe weather is not expected. Brief damaging wind gusts would be the concern in any storms that briefly ramp up to severe levels. The tornado risk remains at virtually zero.
