FEW SHOWERS IN WEST ALABAMA… As of the lunch hour, we’re watching a few small showers happening across west Alabama in Clarke, Washington, Choctaw, and Marengo counties. These showers are drifting northeast. Heavy downpours of rain are possible shortly near Zimco and Grove Hill.

NEXT FEW HOURS… We will continue to see spotty showers and maybe even a few thunderstorms over west Alabama, mainly in areas along and west of the Alabama River. No severe weather is expected until after 10PM tonight! Keep the rain gear handy this afternoon in case you’re under one of the showers/storms.

TORNADO OUTBREAK SETTING UP TO OUR WEST… I’m counting 6 active tornado warnings at the time this post is being written in parts of east Texas. A significant tornado outbreak is getting underway there that will ultimately affect many spots in the northern half of Louisiana and western Mississippi this afternoon. This is the same system that will move through south Alabama and northwest Florida overnight into Sunday morning, albeit probably in a slightly weaker form.
