WARM FRIDAY & SATURDAY; RAIN POSSIBLE SUNDAY… The heat and humidity of summer will dominate our weather pattern across south Alabama and northwest Florida this weekend. While a few showers and storms are possible Sunday, the bigger rain chance is clearly on Monday. We’re also looking ahead to next week when a large ridge of high pressure will build in, causing temperatures to increase into the mid- to upper-90s by Thursday into Friday. Summer is just around the corner! Let’s talk details…
MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY AND SATURDAY… No major weather issues are expected today or on Saturday. Temperatures will peak near the 90 degree mark each day with mostly sunny skies.
FEW SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE P.M. SUNDAY… Isolated showers and thunderstorms will likely pop up in the heat of the day on Sunday afternoon/evening. These storms will likely be below severe limits in most cases, but there could be intense lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds involved in the stronger storms. Be sure to have a way to check the radar on Sunday into Monday.
MONDAY: RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE… Another round of showers and storms will be possible on Monday during the daytime hours. These will be the classic, summertime “pulse variety” of storms that pop up and fade away. The main concerns will be heavy downpours of rain, lightning, and gusty winds.
BIG HEAT NEXT WEEK… The latest model data continues to suggest a big time warmup into the mid- to upper-90s by Thursday and Friday of the upcoming week. This is in response to a large ridge of high pressure building in from the west. Tuesday through Friday of the upcoming week will likely be dry and hot.
LIGHTNING RECOVERY CONTINUES… We have made significant progress in our recovery this week after the damage our studio sustained Sunday in a passing thunderstorm. Lightning caused considerable damage to nearly all of our wiring infrastructure. We will continue to work through the weekend with the goal of having our “normal look” back by Monday morning.
