SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY TODAY; DRIER WEATHER TUESDAY… Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to pop up in the heat of the day on this Monday. Just like yesterday, these will be the “splash and dash” variety of thunderstorms that are generally well under severe limits. The main concerns in any of the stronger storms today will be very heavy downpours of rain, gusty winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning. Rain chances will be greatest in the afternoon and evening hours when we will have the most available heat content in the atmosphere.High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s. Looking ahead, Tuesday will be dry. Mostly sunny skies are likely with high temperatures around 90°. It looks like we will end the work week with sunny skies before showers and storms return for the weekend. Let’s look at a few details…
Note that the discussion points from yesterday remain exactly on target. Here is a review…
COOLER MORNINGS AHEAD… Overnight lows on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning will be in the mid-60s as slightly drier, cooler air takes hold of our weather pattern. If you’re awake around 6AM, be sure to step outside and enjoy it as this is probably the last round of slightly cooler air that will move in until after the peak of the summer season.
FEW SHOWERS & STORMS WEDNESDAY… Isolated showers and thunderstorms could happen Wednesday afternoon. I expect most locales to remain dry, but we could have a few storms bubble up in the heat of the day. High temps on Wednesday will be around the 90 degree mark.
NICE, WARM THURSDAY & FRIDAY… Calm, dry weather is expected on Thursday and on Friday as high pressure takes control of our local area’s primary weather influence. High temperatures will be around 90° with morning lows in the 60s.
MORE POP-UP STORMS FOR UPCOMING WEEKEND… Early indications point to a seasonal weekend with isolated thunderstorms around in the afternoon and evening hours. It’s too early for specifics, but just know we will probably have a few storms around. Probably won’t be “all day washout” days, however.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and tropical Atlantic remain quiet. The National Hurricane Center continues to suggest in their graphical tropical weather outlook product that tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 5-7 days. Good news! The climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season happens around September 11.
