MOSTLY SUNNY WEDNESDAY; STORMS TO OUR EAST TODAY… Passing cumulus clouds, heat, and slightly lower humidity levels will be our weather headlines on this Wednesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will peak around the 90 degree mark this afternoon. There could be a few isolated storms around, particularly across the eastern side of our region EAST of Interstate 65. Looking ahead, we’ve got two dry days upcoming on Thursday and on Friday before more showers and storms arrive this weekend. Let’s look at details…

STORMS ON THE EASTERN FLANK TODAY… I think IF we have storms around this afternoon, they will be most likely to happen in Covington, Okaloosa, Walton, Geneva, and Crenshaw counties and points east. Vast majority of us will be dry and hot today. High temperatures will peak around 90° other than at the immediate beaches where mid-80s are expected. You can always check the current view of the radar at redzoneweather.com/radar or in the Radar tab of the RedZone Weather app.

DRY & HOT ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY… Mostly sunny skies are likely on Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will be near 90 degrees with morning lows in the mid-60s. While the afternoon and evening hours will be quite warm, the early morning hours will feel nice. Most spots will reach the mid-60s by 6AM on Thursday. The interesting thing is that this could be the last “cool snap” we have until we get closer to fall, so be sure to step outside if you’re awake at 6AM to enjoy the crisp, coolish air.

ISOLATED STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Pop-up thunderstorms will become possible starting on Saturday afternoon & evening across our area. It almost certainly won’t be an “all day washout” day for Saturday or Sunday, but there will be occasional storms around. This is very seasonal for an early summer weekend. High temperatures will consistently be in the low-90s this weekend into early next week with morning lows around 70°.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center continues to suggest that tropical development remains unlikely over the next 5-7 days in their graphical tropical weather outlook.
