STORM IN WASHINGTON COUNTY… The northernmost cell in the line of cells that developed across Mobile County has become stronger as it has lifted northward across Washington County. The cell brought heavy rain to Chatom and surrounding areas in the last few minutes. Heavy rain is happening along the AL17 corridor between Millry and Chatom now.

This storm has been broadly rotating. There is no imminent tornado danger as of 12:44AM, but I continue to monitor radar trends carefully.

Keep in mind… Once this storm crosses into Choctaw County, it goes out of our primary coverage area.

SUNDAY EARLY MORNING STORMS… We’re now officially into Sunday, and the focus at the moment continues to be on the small thunderstorms happening in the far western part of Alabama in northern Mobile County and in Washington County. These storms have featured broad rotation at times on radar. For now, there is no imminent tornado danger. We note that any storms that form across west Alabama over the next few hours will have to be monitored carefully. The environment is still supportive for brief, spin-up tornadoes around the large circulation of Tropical Storm Barry.
