SEVERE WEATHER RISK ENDING; COLD AIR MOVING IN… After a night with several tornado warnings locally, our weather will begin to calm down and turn sharply colder today. Temperatures are quickly plunging into the 50s this morning across west Alabama and that cold air is set to invade the entirety of south Alabama and northwest Florida over the next several hours. Temperatures will “go the wrong way” all day. We’ll be in the 40s this afternoon and the 30s by 7PM. Overnight lows on Wednesday morning will be in the upper-20s in many spots locally. Quiet, cold weather is expected through Thursday. Our next rain chance happens late Friday night into Saturday.

TORNADO WATCH TO THE EAST… The severe weather risk is not quite over for areas to our east. A new Tornado Watch has just been issued for parts of southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and parts of the Florida Panhandle including Walton County and points east. Walton, Holmes, Washington (FL), Jackson, Bay, Gulf, Calhoun, Houston (AL), Henry (AL) counties are included. This new Tornado Watch is in effect until 1PM CST.

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING OVERNIGHT… Thank you to everyone who tuned in to our multiple hours of tornado warning coverage from 1AM to 5:30AM. It was a long, active night, but we’re hearing no reports of injuries due to storms locally. 3 confirmed injuries happened in Marengo County west of Demopolis last night and 2 people were killed in north Alabama in Lawrence County yesterday because of a tornado. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those across the Deep South that were adversely affected by this powerful storm system.

COLD, STABLE AIR MOVING IN… Since I’ve been awake for about 26 hours straight, I’m about to get a nap shortly. The severe weather risk is rapidly coming to an end locally. Cold, stable air is moving in and rain will come to an end within the next few hours. If you notice a lull in the RedZone Weather app today, it’s because of two reasons. 1) Our weather pattern is quietening down. 2) I’m going to try to get some rest after several days of long coverage. Thanks for your patience and thanks for watching our coverage. Good night, errrrr good morning!
