HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES TODAY; FINALLY SOME SUNSHINE TOMORROW… Rain will be heavy at times today across south Alabama and northwest Florida as a stationary frontal boundary continues to meander across our region. This boundary will be a focal point for numerous showers today. We won’t be battling severe weather issues, however. You’ll be hard pressed to find many, if any, thunderstorms today across the United States. There could be a clap of thunder or two at the immediate coastline and offshore, but for vast majority of us across the region, rain is the word today. Temperatures will be in the low-50s farther inland and in the low-60s closer to the coast. We FINALLY get a break from the rain tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday as sunshine is slated to return. High temperatures will drop into the 50s. Unfortunately, rain is set to return late Sunday into Monday. Let’s look at your forecast details.

SUNNY FRIDAY… Rain is set to move out late this evening into the very early morning hours of Friday as cooler, drier air moves into our region. While there may be a few clouds around Friday morning, I expect all of the clouds to be well to our east by midday. High temperatures on Friday will be in the low-50s.

TEMPS NEAR FREEZING SATURDAY MORNING… Friday night into Saturday will be quite chilly! Overnight lows may dip below freezing across inland areas. Closer to the I-10 corridor and the Alabama beaches, most spots will be in the mid-30s. I would suggest covering outdoor plants as a course of least regret for Saturday morning. Saturday night into Sunday morning will also be cold with temps in the mid-30s, but I expect most spots to remain above freezing.

MORE SUNSHINE ON SATURDAY… A classic late February weather pattern is on tap for Saturday with plenty of sunshine expected. High temperatures will be in the upper-50s. Very little in the way of cloud cover is expected with no rain issues.

CLOUDS INCREASE SUNDAY… Our next weather system will approach the area on Sunday. We may have a few showers late in the day, but I expect most locales to remain dry through at least the afternoon hours. Temperatures on Sunday afternoon will rise into the mid-60s.

MORE RAIN MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… I know many folks are sick of the rain! Please don’t shoot the messenger. More rain is likely Monday and into Tuesday morning as another area of low pressure develops and moves across our region. Early indications point to the air mass across our region remaining stable enough to not support any severe weather issues, but that is something we’ll be monitoring this weekend. Rain could be heavy again at times on Monday, especially in the evening hours. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s early next week.

DRIER LATE NEXT WEEK… While we are still monitoring the potential for a few storms late Tuesday into Wednesday, model guidance has trended drier overall for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the upcoming week. We’ll keep fine tuning the forecast over the next few days. Be sure to check back with me in the RedZone Weather app for the latest.
