SUNNY DAYS THROUGH SUNDAY; COOL, DRY THURSDAY… Dry weather is here! After weeks of rain and active weather, we get a break starting today extending until at least Sunday if not Monday. Temperatures will remain QUITE chilly today with most spots not getting out of the mid-50s. You’ll certainly want to keep the jackets handy today! The good news is full sunshine is expected throughout the day. Clear skies tonight will allow temperatures to drop quickly. We’ll be in the 40s this evening ahead of 30s likely overnight. Temperatures will gradually rebound as we go into the upcoming weekend. Our next chance of rain happens late Monday evening into Tuesday as the next area of low pressure approaches from the west. Early forecast guidance points to another inch or two of rain. Just because we’re getting a streak of dry days, don’t think we’re going to be getting into a drought. That is certainly not the case. Rain returns next week. Let’s talk details.

COOL THURSDAY; LOWS NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT… Full sunshine is expected throughout the day on this Thursday. High temperatures will peak in the 53-56° range this afternoon with values on the higher side of that range likely near the immediate coast. If you are headed out to an event this evening, keep the jackets handy! Temperatures will quickly fall into the 40s around sunset and be chilly this evening. Temps fall to around 30 degrees by daybreak on Friday morning. If you have tender outdoor plants or vegetation, be sure to take appropriate freeze precautions.

SUNNY & COOL FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY… Sunny skies during the day and clear skies at night are ahead for the weekend. High temperatures rise to around 60 degrees Friday afternoon. We’ll be in the mid-60s Saturday afternoon and approaching 70° in some spots by Sunday afternoon. There could be a few clouds moving in late in the evening hours of Sunday. No major weather impacts are expected this weekend.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE LATE MONDAY… Rain will become possible yet again on Monday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours. Our area will be in a warm sector out ahead of a developing cold front to our west. This will allow showers to happen Monday evening ahead of more widespread rain and potentially a few thunderstorms midweek.

CHANCE OF SHOWERS & STORMS NEXT WEEK… Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front gets set to move by. There is a chance that we could be dealing with a few strong to potentially severe storms during this timeframe, although it is far too early to give any realistic details at this point. Something to monitor over the next few days!

QUITE COLD NEXT TWO MORNINGS: WIND CHILL VALUES NEAR 25° BY DAYBREAK… Now that a cold front has passed through our area, temperatures are rapidly falling. While the air temperature will likely be near or just above the freezing mark, ongoing wind out of the northwest will make the air FEEL colder tonight than it actually is. Wind chill values by 6AM on Thursday will be in the mid-20s across our region. If you’re headed out in the morning, be sure to bundle up and take into account the 10-15 mph wind that will be happening. Friday morning is set to be even colder on the thermometer, but the wind chill won’t be as low as wind out of the northwest will have subsided quite a bit.

SUNNY DAYS UPCOMING… Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look SUNNY and dry. Clouds are on the way out this evening and we should have full sunshine for the next four days. Temperatures on Thursday will peak only in the mid-50s, thus we’ll need to keep the jackets around all day. Temps rebound into the 60s on Friday afternoon ahead of slightly warmer (but still coolish) temperatures for the weekend.

I’ll have your next full forecast video posted by 7:15AM on Thursday. See you then!

LIGHT RAIN TO THE NORTH… We’re seeing some very light areas of rain across parts of Choctaw, northern Clarke, Wilcox, and Butler counties this afternoon. I would suspect that much of this rain is actually not reaching the ground. There could be a shower or two near Thomasville, Beatrice, Forest Home, and Greenville over the next few hours. No significant impacts are expected.

CLOUDS DECREASE TODAY AHEAD OF DRY, SUNNY DAYS… Cloud coverage will continue to decrease on this Wednesday as more sunshine is expected by the end of the day. There could be a few areas of light rain this morning into the early afternoon across the far northern part of our local area in parts of Butler, Conecuh, Monroe, and Clarke counties. Any rain will be well to our northeast by 2PM. Temperatures will peak in the low-60s around 2PM. We’ll be in the 50s by 6PM, meaning the evening hours will be chilly with a 10-15 mph wind out of the northwest.

CHILLY NIGHT AHEAD… Most locales will settle into the mid-30s by 4AM on Wednesday morning. I expect overnight lows to be in the 33-36° range in most spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Clouds will continue to decrease in coverage overnight.

SUNNY, COOL THURSDAY… Full sunshine with no major weather issues are ahead for Thursday. We will have a cobalt, blue sky in place all day with hardly any (IF any) clouds around. High temperatures will only be in the mid-50s on Thursday, which is slated to be the coldest overall day in the next 7-10 days. Keep the jackets handy all day on Thursday.

LOWS NEAR FREEZING FRIDAY MORNING… The coldest morning out of the next week happens on Friday when temperatures will range from near 30° farther inland to near 35° closer to the immediate coastline. This means that much of our area, especially locations north of Interstate 10, will have temperatures that briefly dip below freezing. We will quickly rebound into the 50s by late morning on Friday. Sunny skies are expected all day Friday with highs in the mid-60s.

SUNNY WEEKEND AHEAD… It is a pleasure to be able to report that we will have a nice, sunny, seasonal weekend. High temperatures will be in the mid-60s on both Saturday and Sunday with mostly sunny skies each day. Cloud coverage will probably increase somewhat on Sunday ahead of more rain becoming possible Tuesday into Wednesday of the upcoming week.

RAIN LIKELY MIDWEEK NEXT WEEK… Cloud coverage will continue to increase on Monday ahead of rain chances on Tuesday into Wednesday of the upcoming week. There are some indications that we could have a round of storms on Wednesday into Thursday, but details are still fuzzy that far out. As always, severe weather will be a concern any time we have a cold front passing through this time of year. I’ll keep you posted about it all in the RedZone Weather app.
