GORGEOUS THURSDAY; RAIN & STORMS RETURN THIS WEEKEND… Sunshine on this Thursday will give way to increasingly cloudy skies tonight into Friday. Showers will return to our area Friday evening ahead of a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday. More active weather is ahead for Sunday when we could have showers and storms. Some of the storms on Sunday may be on the strong side with at least a marginal chance of severe weather. We also are looking ahead to the middle part of next week when another round of strong storms may happen. Let’s look at your forecast details.

SUNNY TODAY; A BIT WARMER… Sunshine is the story on this Thursday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s this afternoon across the region. Clouds will begin to stream into our area from the southwest later this evening.

CLOUDS INCREASE FRIDAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE LATE… Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Friday with a few showers becoming possible in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs on Friday will rise into the low-80s with increasing humidity levels due to a southerly wind. There could be a clap of thunder or two as early as Friday evening, although I expect much of the rain to hold off until late Saturday into Sunday.

SCATTERED SHOWERS & STORMS ON SATURDAY… Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered in nature across the region on Saturday. The overall risk of severe weather Saturday will remain very low if not at zero for most spots. There is a chance that some locales remain completely dry on Saturday. High temperatures will be in the low-80s.

STRONGER STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon and evening hours of Sunday across our region as an area of low pressure develops to our west. There is a chance that we will have a few stronger storms around with the primary concern being gusty winds that could topple a few trees.

QUIET MONDAY & TUESDAY… After the rain and storms this weekend, we’ll have a period of drier, quieter weather on Monday into Tuesday. The respite from the rain won’t last long, however. More rain and storms are ahead for Wednesday and Thursday.

MORE STORMS WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY… Our next rain chance (after this weekend) will happen in the middle part of the upcoming week when early model guidance points to another round of potentially stronger storms. This is something to monitor over the next few days. ’Tis the season for active weather as we are in the heart of our primary severe weather season. This is nothing unusual. We’ll keep having rounds of active weather like this at least once per week at least until the end of April or so.
