SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON… Showers and thunderstorms will pop up yet again on this Saturday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours. Rain chances will be at their peak between 2PM and 7PM. We’ll call it a 60% chance of showers and storms today. Some of the storms could be on the strong side, with lots of lightning, heavy rain, and perhaps even gusty winds in the strongest of the storms. Widespread severe weather, however, is NOT expected today. High temperatures will be around the 90 degree mark in most spots. We’ll have a drier air mass in place on both Sunday and Monday, and rain chances should be quite a bit lower compared to the last few days. Rain chances will again rise as we go into next week.
TROPICS ACTIVE, BUT NOT IN THE GULF… We continue to track Tropical Storm Josephine and Tropical Storm Kyle. Josephine is located northeast of the Lesser Antilles in the central Atlantic Ocean. The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center calls for Josephine to gradually weaken as the system moves north into the open waters of The Atlantic between Bermuda and the Antilles. Josephine will likely completely dissipate next week. Tropical Storm Kyle formed yesterday evening and is located off the U.S. East Coast. Kyle will rapidly race away from the U.S. and all land areas over the next few days. The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea are both quiet with no new tropical storm formation expected over the next 3-5 days.
My next full forecast video will be posted Sunday afternoon. Have a great Saturday!
