GORGEOUS WEEKEND LOCALLY; TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN CARIBBEAN… It does not get much better for a weekend forecast around here! Mostly sunny skies are ahead for this afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday with pleasant temperatures. We peak in the upper-60s today ahead of highs in the 70s on both Saturday and Sunday. High school football games tonight across the region will be fantastic with game time temperatures in the upper-50s in most spots.

80% CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM FORMING IN CARIBBEAN… The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate there is a growing chance of a new tropical storm forming in the southwestern Caribbean Sea over the next 5 days. NHC puts the odds of this happening at an 80% chance as of their 2AM Tropical Weather Outlook. From NHC: “Shower activity associated with a large area of disturbed weather over the Lesser Antilles and the eastern Caribbean Sea has become a little more concentrated this evening. Conditions are expected to be conducive for development of this disturbance during the next few days, and a tropical depression is likely to form by the time the system reaches the western Caribbean Sea early next week.”

SUNNY HALLOWEEN SATURDAY; PERFECT FOR EVENING EVENTS… Temperatures will peak in the mid-70s on both Saturday and Sunday. All of the trick-or-treating and evening Halloween events on Saturday will feature nice weather with temperatures in the 60s.

MILD DAYS, COOL NIGHTS NEXT WEEK… Some of our coolest temperatures of the fall season yet are expected to happen Monday morning and Tuesday morning with overnight lows expected to be in the low- to mid-40s. Highs will be in the mid-60s Monday ahead of 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Sunshine is expected each day. Nice!

70% CHANCE OF NEW TROPICAL STORM FORMING; MUCH COOLER OVERNIGHT… The National Hurricane Center continues to increase the formation chance for an area of disturbed weather, currently located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The system is expected to move into the western Caribbean Sea this weekend into early next week and potentially develop into a tropical storm. NHC puts the odds of that happening at a 70% chance as of 7:30PM Thursday. There is honestly more we don’t know at this point compared to what we do know. Some of the global weather models ramp this up to a tropical storm, while others don’t develop the system much at all. Some models show movement to the northwest, some to the north, and others show movement into central America. Bottom line: It’s too early to draw conclusions about where this developing storm may end up. At this stage for Alabama and northwest Florida, this is simply something to be aware of and not something to stress about.

COOLER TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT… Most spots across the inland areas of southwest Alabama will dip into the upper-40s by 6AM on Friday. Locales closer to the coast will likely be in the low-50s by daybreak. Mostly clear skies are expected overnight.

MAINLY SUNNY, NICE FRIDAY… Other than the potential for a few passing clouds in the morning, Friday is slated to be sunny and quite nice. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s and near 70 in many spots locally. If you’re planning to attend a high school football game tomorrow evening, I would suggest grabbing a light jacket. Kickoff temperatures will be in the 60-63° range at 7PM with temps falling into the mid-50s by the 4th quarter of many of the games. Clear skies are expected.

Nice!

60% CHANCE OF NEW TROPICAL STORM FORMING IN CARIBBEAN SEA… Just 5 hours after we gave the final “all clear” from Hurricane Zeta, we unfortunately have another developing tropical area of concern in the Caribbean Sea. The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 60% chance of an area of low pressure developing east of Nicaragua and becoming a tropical storm in the next 5 days. No way to know where this developing storm will end up. We will be watching over the next several days.

LINGERING SHOWERS & CLOUDS CLEAR OUT LATER TODAY… Any lingering areas of rain will come to an end later this morning. Clouds will clear out later this afternoon, giving way to sunshine becoming likely by the end of the day. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s by 3PM.

SUNNY, QUIET, COOLER DAYS AHEAD… Friday, Saturday (Halloween), and Sunday will be nice, quiet, and sunny. Highs on Friday will be around 70, with highs in the mid-70s for Halloween Saturday and for Sunday. Overnight lows will be in the upper-40s inland with low-50s closer to the coast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

MORE COOLER AIR ARRIVES MONDAY… Yet another cold front will arrive on Sunday afternoon and evening, ushering in even cooler air for Monday. High temperatures on Monday may struggle to get to the upper-60s. Morning lows by Tuesday morning could make a run at the upper-30s across inland areas of south Alabama. Mostly sunny skies are expected each day next week.
