RAIN AT TIMES TODAY INTO TONIGHT AND FRIDAY; NICE, COOL WEEKEND AHEAD… Rain will be increasingly possible this afternoon into this evening as an area of low pressure approaches our local area from the west. Rain chances will be at their peak on Friday morning. Widespread severe weather is NOT expected with this passing weather system, but there could be a few claps of thunder at times especially in areas closer to the immediate coast. The upcoming weekend will likely be dry with some passing clouds at times. High temperatures this weekend will be near 60 with lows around 40 each morning. The upcoming week looks quiet with mostly sunny days ahead for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. A few Thursday morning forecast details are below.

GREATEST RAIN CHANCE OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING… Scattered showers are likely at times tonight into Friday morning. Rain could be locally heavy at times, although a widespread heavy rain event is not expected. Overnight lows will be around 52 degrees by Friday morning, meaning temperatures won’t be moving that much due to all of the clouds around acting as somewhat of a “blanket” or insulation. Rain will gradually exit from west to east on Friday afternoon.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK REMAINS VERY LOW… The severe weather event tonight into Friday is very low, if not at zero, for most spots. Inland areas do not have any formal risk of severe weather with this event. There could be a few stronger storms just offshore from the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. I suspect there simply won’t be enough surface-based instability to support any severe storms over land areas as this system moves by. We’ll let you know if there are any changes concerning this very low (to no) risk.

COOL, DRY DAYS THIS WEEKEND… Other than a few passing clouds, the weekend looks nice. High temperatures will be around the 60 degree mark on both Saturday and Sunday.

SUNSHINE EARLY NEXT WEEK… Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for Monday through Wednesday of the upcoming week. Temperatures will remain near or just below our long-term climatological norms for this time of year with highs in the 50s and 60s with lows in the 30s.
