RAIN AT TIMES TODAY; MIXED PRECIP POSSIBLE IN WEST AL… Rain will be possible at times on this Monday across the region. There could be a few areas of mixed precipitation in parts of Clarke, Washington, Monroe, Wilcox, Marengo, and Choctaw counties in west Alabama through the late morning hours. At this point, it continues to seem like accumulation of wintry precipitation or snow is unlikely. Rain will continue into the afternoon and evening hours before clearing out entirely after sunset. Today is definitely the “active weather” day of the week with sunshine expected to return by tomorrow afternoon. Cool days, cold nights and mostly clear skies are expected later this week. More Monday morning forecast notes are below.

TIMING FOR POTENTIAL FLURRIES, MIX, SLEET IN WEST ALABAMA… Mixed precipitation locally in parts of Monroe, Clarke, and Washington counties (and Choctaw, Marengo, and Wilcox counties just to our north) is most likely to happen from now to 10AM. Temperatures will likely be too warm (40s) for mixed precipitation by the time we get to the late morning hours and early afternoon hours. A cold rain is set to continue at times into this afternoon and the evening hours but wintry mix/sleet should be gone by midday. No significant accumulation of wintry precipitation is expected today.

A CALL FOR PHOTOS… While most areas will just have rain around locally, if you happen to see some wintry mixed precipitation, snow/flurries, or ice today, we would greatly appreciate you sending in a photo! It is always SO helpful to have “ground truth” reports from across the region. Rural western parts of Alabama are mostly devoid of advanced weather stations, thus it is imperative that we have reports and photos from the region to know what is going on. Thanks in advance! We really appreciate everyone being so helpful in the ground truth reporting process over the last few months!

RAIN CLEARS OUT TONIGHT; CLOUDS CLEAR OUT TUESDAY MIDDAY… Rain will continue to be possible at times today. It looks like most (if not all) of the rain will be to our east by the time we get to 8PM this evening. Clouds will linger into Tuesday morning but we should begin to have peeks of sunshine by tomorrow afternoon.

MOSTLY SUNNY WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY… Skies will be partly cloudy on Wednesday and mostly sunny on Thursday. High temperatures will rise into the low-60s by Thursday.

COOLER TEMPS THIS WEEKEND… Cooler? Yes, as in, cooler than the temperatures this week. Temps will yet again fall into the 50s for afternoon highs by Saturday with morning lows likely to be in the 30s again this weekend.
