SUNNY THROUGH WEDNESDAY; RAIN RETURNS LATER THIS WEEK… Today and Tuesday will be sunny and cool ahead of warmer, wetter days later this week. High temperatures on this Monday will peak near the 60 degree mark in most spots. Tonight will be our final night with low temperatures near the freezing mark for awhile. Our next rain chance sets up later this week, most likely in the evening hours of Thursday. Overall, this week will feature quiet weather across Alabama and northwest Florida with no severe weather, no winter weather issues, and no extreme temperatures expected. That is what we like to see in the forecast! A few more details are below.

ONE MORE COLD NIGHT WITH LOWS NEAR FREEZING… Temperatures by 6AM Tuesday will be near or perhaps just below the freezing mark in many communities locally, especially inland in areas along and north of U.S. Highway 84. This means places like Andalusia, Opp, Red Level, Greenville, Beatrice, Monroeville, Luverne, and Thomasville may briefly have temperatures in the 30-32 degree range by daybreak on Tuesday. This will be the last night for at least 5-6 nights with lows near or just below freezing, however.

NICE TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY… Sunshine will continue to be in the forecast on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will moderate into the upper-60s tomorrow and then to near 70 by Wednesday. Tuesday is likely to be completely sunny with only a few passing clouds being possible on Wednesday.

SHOWERS RETURN THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Showers will become possible on Thursday, most likely in the evening hours after sunset. Scattered showers will be “hit or miss” in nature and not every locale will have rain Thursday into Friday. The rain later this week into the upcoming weekend will be associated with multiple passing shortwave troughs that will swing from west to east across our region. Right now, there are no signs of imminent severe weather with these systems. Good news!

RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Showers will continue to be possible at times this weekend and into early next week. Neither Saturday nor Sunday will be an “all day washout” but there could be showers around at times. We’ll keep you posted in the RedZone Weather app.
