INCREASING CLOUDINESS TODAY; SHOWERS RETURN THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Clouds will increase in coverage across the region on this Wednesday ahead of rain becoming possible at times tomorrow. High temperatures today will be in the mid- to upper-60s. Friday could feature numerous showers as an area of low pressure moves by just to our north. We also will be watching a system slated to move by on Monday that could feature a few thunderstorms. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE AT TIMES ON THURSDAY… Rain chances will be greater across inland communities of southwest Alabama on Thursday. Scattered showers will build in across the area late in the day and into the evening hours. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the upper-60s. Thunderstorms are expected to be few and far between, with most spots just having general rain at times.

RAIN AT TIMES ON FRIDAY… Scattered showers will peak in coverage on Friday, most likely in the morning hours. Similar to Thursday, the farther north you are in our local area, the greater your specific rain chance will be. High temps on Friday will again be in the mid-60s.

UNSETTLED, MILD WEEKEND… Rain chances remain LOW (but not zero!) for Saturday and Sunday. Our area will remain under the influence of an unsettled pattern that could squeeze out a few showers, especially late in the day on Sunday. Highs will be in the 60s this weekend with morning lows near 45 on Saturday morning and near 50 on Sunday morning.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY ON MONDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will once again increase in coverage on Monday as another area of low pressure and trailing cold front move across our region. There have been some model indications that a few stronger storms could be possible, at least under some scenarios. This is because of the potential for an area of slightly higher instability values that may develop on Sunday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours. I will be closely monitoring model trends over the next few days concerning this potential. We’ll keep you posted about it in the RedZone Weather app.
