RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES THROUGH MIDDAY; RAIN & STORMS RETURN MONDAY… Scattered showers will continue to stream in from the west on this Friday. Rain has been concentrated across inland areas this morning. No severe weather issues are expected today, but I cannot completely rule out a rumble of thunder of two near the coast. Rain chances will decline throughout the day and by the time we get to 9PM tonight, most spots should be dry. The weekend will be drier overall with low rain chances on Saturday and on Sunday. Our next weather system is slated to move by on Monday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected with a low-end chance of a few strong to marginally severe storms locally and perhaps across central and north Alabama. Let’s look at all of your Friday forecast details.

LOW RAIN CHANCES SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY… While I cannot completely rule out a few showers on Saturday, I suspect that vast majority of our local area will remain dry. Sunday could feature a few more showers in the afternoon and evening hours as our next weather system begins to approach from the west. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid-60s. Overnight lows will be in the 40s.

POSSIBILITY OF A FEW STRONG STORMS MONDAY… Showers and thunderstorms will be possible across much of the Deep South, including Alabama, Mississippi, and northwest Florida. There is a chance a severe weather risk zone may be needed across the region, potentially including our local area, on Monday. It remains to be seen whether a tornado risk will set up, but at bare minimum, it looks like there could be gusty winds in the stronger storms. This is something we will be monitoring in model trends over the next few days. Please check in for updates in the RedZone Weather app. Rain will move out Monday evening to the east.

ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY… Tuesday is expected to be dry ahead of another round of showers becoming possible on Wednesday of the upcoming week. Highs will remain near 70, which is above our climatological norms for this time of year.

MILD TEMPERATURES AHEAD… Speaking of above normal temperatures, there is no time in the next 7 days when temperatures will dive into the 30s. There is a good chance tonight into Saturday morning will be the coldest morning out of the next 7 mornings with overnight lows in the mid-40s. High temperatures on Monday will surge into the mid-70s.
