SEVERE WEATHER RISK ENDS; COLD TEMPS AHEAD… The severe weather risk has ended for all locales in southwest Alabama and northwest Florida and we can give a total ALL CLEAR to our local area. Now, our focus shifts to the cold temperatures coming up. Overnight lows on Thursday morning (tomorrow) will be in the low-40s, but the coldest morning out of the next 7 days will likely be Friday when temperatures may be near or just below the freezing mark. The National Weather Service has included several local counties in a Freeze Watch valid for Friday morning to account for this possibility.
WHAT TO EXPECT – NEXT FEW HOURS… Rain and storms will continue to move to the east. I expect the entire area to be drying out with no more rain by the time we get to 10PM. Cool, dry air is moving into our local area behind the advancing cold front. We’ll be in the 40s by daybreak Thursday ahead of high temperatures only in the upper-50s and near 60 on Thursday.
FREEZE WATCH FOR INLAND COUNTIES… Areas near U.S. Highway 84 and points north are involved in a Freeze Watch due to the potential of temperatures being near or perhaps just below the freezing mark on Friday morning. All parts of Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, and Crenshaw counties are included in the Freeze Watch. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
FANTASTIC WEATHER THIS WEEKEND… Gorgeous weather is ahead for the weekend! High temperatures will be near 70 on Saturday, followed by mid-70s on Sunday. Full sunshine is expected each day with no rain in the forecast anywhere close by in the Deep South.
