RAIN & STORMS DEPART EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AHEAD OF MORE RAIN FRIDAY… Heavy rain and thunderstorms around the region this morning will continue to progressively move east over the next few hours. The Storm Prediction Center maintains a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) marginal severe weather risk for coastal counties over the next few hours. This low-end risk zone is in place due to the potential (very) small chance that a thunderstorms ramps up and produces gusty wind or hail that could be severe. Most spots over the next few hours will simply have rain. Much of the local area should be drier by the time we get into the late afternoon and early evening hours. This “lull” in rain and storm activity will be short-lived, however, as we have more rain ahead on Friday into Saturday. Your full Thursday morning forecast details are below.

HEAVY RAIN & STORMS THIS MORNING… Rain and storms are happening across the region this morning. I expect storms to continue to move east over the next few hours and ultimately exit our region this afternoon into the early evening hours. Showers and storms may linger across parts of south-central Alabama and northwest Florida through ~2-3PM. This evening, however, temperatures will be in the mid-70s and we’ll be drying out. Clouds may linger into the evening hours.

ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN & STORMS FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… I know everyone is probably tired of hearing this but we have yet another round of rain and storms coming in from the west on Friday into Saturday. Some model guidance shows scattered showers and storms in the morning hours before a more pronounced, organized round in the late evening hours of Friday into early Saturday.

FEW LINGERING SHOWERS SUNDAY… Sunday will serve as our transition day of sorts. Scattered showers will be possible, particularly in the morning hours, before drier conditions toward the end of the day. Highs will be in the mid-70s.

TRENDING DRIER AND WARMER NEXT WEEK… We finally get a slew of dry days early next week! Sunshine is slated to return Monday into Tuesday with high temperatures expected to be in the mid-70s each day.

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download.
