MORE RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES TODAY; UNSETTLED PATTERN THRU THURSDAY… Scattered showers and storms are likely at times on this Tuesday, particularly this afternoon into this evening. We will likely have another cluster of heavy rain and thunderstorms cross our region from west to east later today into the evening hours. The overall severe weather risk remains low, but not quite zero. Some of the stronger storms later today could produce gusty winds and small hail, in addition to heavy rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, and loud thunder. High temperatures today will be in the low-80s. More storms are likely at times on Wednesday into Thursday ahead of a drier pattern on Friday. I’ve got all of your Tuesday morning forecast details below.
LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY… The Storm Prediction Center maintains a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk for our entire area valid for today into tonight. All of south Alabama and northwest Florida remains involved in a warm sector, where a few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, mainly this evening. Widespread severe weather is NOT expected, but a stronger storm or two will be possible. Gusty winds and small hail will be the main concerns in the stronger storms. The overall tornado risk today remains very low.
RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THIS EVENING INTO TONIGHT… Another round of heavy rain and thunderstorms will cross our region from west to east later today most likely. These complexes of thunderstorms are called mesoscale convective systems. MCS events can sometimes be large clusters of thunderstorms, but the ones that have been passing through our area since yesterday are fairly small, covering usually a few counties. Another MCS will probably move across our region this evening into tonight, bringing with it a chance of gusty winds, small hail, torrential downpours of rain (especially along the leading edge), and loud thunder. I’ll let you know in the RedZone Weather app if we happen to have any warnings.
MORE RAIN AT TIMES ON WEDNESDAY… Our unsettled weather pattern continues on Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms being likely at times throughout the day. While it is hard to pinpoint exactly when storms will fire up on Wednesday, it looks like the afternoon and evening hours could feature more in the way of scattered storms. The overall severe weather risk on Wednesday remains very, very low. High temperatures on Wednesday are expected to be in the mid- to upper-70s.
FEW SHOWERS & STORMS ON THURSDAY; TRENDING DRIER… Thursday will serve as a transition day of sorts with rain chances lessening throughout the day. Clouds will probably hang tough throughout the day ahead of clearing skies in the overnight hours. Highs on Thursday will again be in the mid- to upper-70s.
MOSTLY SUNNY AND NICE ON FRIDAY… Sunshine is slated to return on Friday. Rain will likely be gone to our east with only a few clouds being possible locally on Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s and near 80.
NICE WEEKEND AHEAD… Gorgeous weather is ahead for the upcoming weekend. Highs will be in the 80s with morning lows in the upper-50s with sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday. Certainly something to look forward to after the dreary start to the week.
