POP-UP THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY TODAY AND SATURDAY… Showers and thunderstorms are likely to pop up throughout the late morning, afternoon, and evening hours both today and on Saturday. Thunderstorms that pop up will produce cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rain, and loud thunder. Widespread severe weather, however, is not expected today or this weekend. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s in most spots today. No real pattern changes are expected over the next 7-10 days with more in the way of P.M. pop-up thunderstorms likely each day.

TROPICS QUIET, FOR NOW… No tropical storm formation is expected today or this weekend in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or Atlantic Ocean. There are multiple systems in the Eastern Pacific basin that may develop this weekend, but those systems will not be a concern locally for south Alabama or northwest Florida.
