MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; RAIN & THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY… More sunshine is the story on this Tuesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s today. Another mostly sunny day is ahead for Wednesday ahead of a few showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms becoming possible across our region on Thursday as a cold front marches toward the Deep South. No rain is expected today or tomorrow (Wednesday).

CLOUDS INCREASE IN COVERAGE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY… Cloud coverage will gradually increase later today into tonight and Wednesday ahead of our next weather system slated to move by on Thursday into Friday. High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the mid-70s. Rain chances will increase across the area starting Thursday morning.

RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY… Scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will be possible on Thursday into the early morning hours of Friday as a frontal boundary approaches our local area. There is a chance some communities will remain completely dry, although I expect most locales to have some rain before the end of this event. Rain totals likely won’t be much in most spots. 0.01″ to 0.25″ of rain is expected in total in most communities. Isolated higher amounts may be possible.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK REMAINS LOW… Widespread cloudiness and areas of rain will likely limit significant instability from moving inland across the Deep South, thus the Storm Prediction Center currently has none of the local area highlighted in their severe weather risk zones later this week. While a few rumbles of thunder and lightning may be possible, the overall risk of tornadoes and damaging winds appears to be quite low, if not zero in most spots.

NICE, COOLER WEEKEND UPCOMING AFTER COLD FRONT… The upcoming weekend looks nice, cold, and dry. Sunny skies are expected on both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper-50s and near 60 in most spots with overnight lows in the upper-30s inland with low-40s likely closer to the coast. Note that our normal high temperature for this time of year is in the 67-69° range with morning lows in the upper-40s.

NICE START TO NEXT WEEK… Temperatures will moderate somewhat, although remaining about 8-12 degrees below our long-term climatological norms for this time of year, early next week. Highs will be in the low-60s with morning lows in the low-40s. Sunshine is expected on Monday and Tuesday.
