WARMER TEMPS TODAY; MUCH COOLER AIR ARRIVES LATE TOMORROW NIGHT… Today is going to be a spectacular, warm fall day across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-70s this afternoon with mostly sunny skies for much of the day. I expect clouds to increase in coverage today into tonight ahead of the chance of showers increasing late tomorrow morning. While some communities will remain dry, I expect most communities to have some rain before the end of the day on Thursday as a fairly strong cold front moves across our region. This weekend, temperatures will be in the low-70s with overnight lows in the 50s. Another chance of rain sets up early next week. I’ve got all of your Wednesday morning forecast notes below.

RAIN AMOUNTS TO BE LIGHT TOMORROW… Widespread rain and thunderstorms are not expected tomorrow, but we are expecting a line of showers along the frontal boundary to move through late Thursday evening. I expect most spots will have 0.1″ to 0.25″ of rain in total tomorrow.

COOLER ON FRIDAY… Much cooler air is set to arrive right behind the frontal boundary on Thursday evening. There is a real chance some communities will be in the mid-60s then very rapidly drop into the 40s late Thursday night. The “thermal gradient” will be fairly tight with this passing front, meaning it will turn cold quite quickly instead of a more gradual transition.

SUNSHINE ON SATURDAY AHEAD OF MORE CLOUDS SUNDAY… Saturday is slated to be a nice day with highs near 70 in most spots. Full sunshine is expected throughout the day. Cloud coverage will increase yet again on Sunday ahead of a cold front slated to move by midweek. Temperatures will yet again dive into the 60s for highs by Tuesday. We note that rain chances will rise on Monday as this front approaches.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… No tropical storms are expected to form over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean. The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ends on Tuesday, November 30.
