MOSTLY SUNNY & COOL TODAY; NEXT RAIN CHANCE: THURSDAY… We begin the gradual process of warming up on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the mid-50s across south Alabama and northwest Florida today. Cold temperatures are ahead for the overnight hours, but not AS cold as previous nights. Most locales will end up in the upper-30s by daybreak on Wednesday. Rain is slated to return to the local area on Thursday as a weak impulse moves by our region ahead of another shot of cold air for Friday and Saturday. Scattered thunderstorms may become possible on Sunday. I’ve got all of your Tuesday morning forecast notes below.

NOT AS COLD, BUT STILL CHILLY TONIGHT… Temperatures will fall into the upper-30s by daybreak on Wednesday, especially in areas along and north of U.S. Highway 84 in southwest Alabama. Some communities closer to the immediate coast will have an overnight low in the 40s. Fortunately, the wind chill factor will not be as pronounced as previous nights as wind speeds are expected to be near calm.

INCREASING CLOUDINESS WEDNESDAY… Clouds will increase in coverage from west to east on Wednesday ahead of rain becoming possible on Thursday. High temperatures will be in the mid-60s. Rain is not expected on Wednesday, but showers will become possible on Thursday in the morning hours.

FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THURSDAY… Widespread rain and thunderstorms are not expected on Thursday, but we could have a few widely scattered showers and maybe even a thunderstorm or two closer to the immediate coast. Highs on Thursday will be near the 70 degree mark. A cold front will move by late in the day on Thursday, ushering in another shot of cooler air.

SUNNY SKIES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Cool, stable air will be in place on Friday and on Saturday across our local area. High temperatures on Friday will drop back into the 50s. Overnight lows on Friday night into Saturday will be in the mid-30s.

SCATTERED STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Our next weather system that has a small chance of strong storms will move by our region on Sunday. Highs on Sunday will again be near the 70 degree mark. Winds will be out of the south, meaning Gulf moisture will have a chance to push inland and potentially spark off a few storms. It is a bit too early to know if severe storms will be a real possibility, but that is something we will be watching in the days ahead.
