GUSTY WINDS & A BRIEF TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE SUNDAY… A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms may be possible on Sunday, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours, as a cold front approaches our area from the northwest. The main concern in any stronger storms that may develop will be gusty winds capable of knocking down a few trees or perhaps a brief tornado or two. The severe weather risk locally will mainly be confined to the afternoon and evening hours with the main concern being from Noon to 9PM. Most communities will simply have rain at times tomorrow.

STORM TIMING ON SUNDAY – P.M. HOURS… A few isolated thunderstorms can’t completely be ruled out on Sunday morning, but the “better combination of atmospheric ingredients” will set up in the afternoon and evening hours. Noon to 9PM will be the time frame when storms are most likely to develop. We may see a few isolated storms develop early in the afternoon ahead of a line of strong to potentially marginally severe storms moving through in the evening hours.

MAIN CONCERN: GUSTY WINDS IN STRONGER STORMS… While a brief tornado or two cannot completely be ruled out, the main concern on Sunday will be gusty winds capable of downing a few trees across the region. Heavy rain will be possible as the line of storms passes through your specific community on Sunday. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.

LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) RISK FOR MOST LOCAL COMMUNITIES… Other than communities in southern Santa Rosa and southern Okaloosa counties, the remainder of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida is involved in the low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Sunday. This means that all parts of Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia (AL), Conecuh, Butler, Covington, Monroe, Clarke, and Washington counties are involved in the low-end risk zone. Much of Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and far northern Okaloosa counties are involved in this low-end severe weather risk zone as well.

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.

I will have more updates later today and into tomorrow in the RedZone Weather app. Have a great Saturday evening!
