FREEZING RAIN & SLEET POSSIBLE FRIDAY MORNING; COLD AIR MOVING IN TODAY… Rain will continue to be possible at times through the middle part of the day on this Thursday. Much cooler air is set to rush into our region today behind the advancing cold front that is crossing the area. High temperatures will actually happen this morning as most spots have been in the 50s and near 60. Temperatures will tumble over the next several hours and most locales will have temperatures in the 40s this afternoon into this evening. Keep those heavy jackets handy as we will have temps in the mid-30s by 9PM.

LULL IN THE PRECIPITATION TONIGHT; COLD TEMPS AHEAD… While rain will exit our region to the east today, this will only be somewhat of a lull in the rain action as we have more rain slated to move in tonight into Friday morning. This rain will pave the way for the potential winter weather event that will set up in the overnight hours and into Friday morning. Temperatures will be in the 30s overnight.

FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE TOMORROW A.M. ACROSS WEST ALABAMA… Mixed precipitation (rain that falls as liquid but freezes on contact, aka freezing rain AND ice pellets or sleet) will become possible tomorrow (Friday) morning across interior stretches of south Alabama and northwest Florida. The corridor for the greatest potential of freezing rain will happen in areas along and west of Interstate 65.

COLD, PARTLY CLOUDY WEEKEND… The weekend will feature cold temperatures with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures this weekend will be in the upper-40s and low-50s across the region. The chance of any rain this weekend remains low.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE: TUESDAY… Our next chance of rain (after Friday) will happen on Tuesday as another area of low pressure develops to our west and ultimately moves near or right over our local area. Right now, the chances of any severe weather issues or any winter weather issues seem rather low. Temperatures should be well above the freezing mark, thus we are expecting precipitation to be in the form of rain for the duration of the storm system passing across our region.
