FEW SHOWERS THIS MORNING; SLIGHTLY COOLER TODAY & THIS WEEKEND… Rain is happening in a few communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Friday. Temperatures are in the mid-60s across the region in many spots. Temperatures won’t be moving much at all today as cooler, drier air begins to filter in from the north. Showers will move out in the afternoon hours, giving way to clearing skies this evening into tonight. We have a fairly benign, quiet weather pattern setting up over the next 5-7 days with only one more chance of rain on Sunday. Next week looks dry, especially Monday through Wednesday. A few more Friday morning forecast notes are below.

MOSTLY SUNNY SATURDAY… Plenty of sunshine is expected on Saturday across the region. High temperatures are expected to be near the 70 degree mark. While a few passing clouds will be possible, particularly in the afternoon hours, I expect skies to remain mostly sunny throughout the day.

FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Scattered showers may be possible on Sunday across parts of the local area, specifically across inland communities as a weather system passes to our north. Heavier, more consistent rain will be possible across parts of north and central Alabama on Sunday. High temperatures on Sunday will be in the upper-60s.

PLEASANT, MOSTLY SUNNY DAYS NEXT WEEK… We kick off a slew of nice, mild days on Monday when mostly sunny skies are expected throughout the day. Next week looks fairly quiet in the weather department across much of the Deep South. I see no signs of any significant severe weather issues or winter weather issues in the next 5-7 days.

BECOMING SUNNY TODAY; COOLER TEMPS AHEAD ON FRIDAY… After the dense fog dissipates later this morning, a few clouds will persist into the early afternoon hours on this Thursday. High temperatures today will again be close to the 80 degree mark with many communities peaking in the upper-70s. A stalled frontal boundary, currently located to our north, will move across our area on Friday morning, gradually allowing cooler air to move in. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the low-70s. Looking ahead to the weekend, mostly sunny skies are ahead for Saturday. A few showers may happen Sunday. Fortunately, I see no signs of any large scale severe weather events across the Deep South over the next few days.

DENSE FOG ADVISORY UNTIL 10AM… Fog is quite dense this morning in many communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Please be aware of this if you’re driving this morning. I expect most of the fog to dissipate by 10AM. That is the time when the Dense Fog Advisory expires. Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia (AL), Conecuh, Monroe, Butler, and Covington counties remain involved in the Dense Fog Advisory in Alabama. Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties are involved in northwest Florida.

FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TOMORROW… The frontal boundary located to our north, technically a very slow-moving cold front, will cross our area tomorrow. This will allow for cooler, drier air to move in from the north. High temperatures on Friday will be in the low-70s ahead of lows in the 40s by Saturday morning. A few showers may happen in the morning hours of Friday as the frontal boundary moves through. Widespread rain is not expected and showers should remain fairly spotty in nature.

NICE SATURDAY; SPOTTY SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Mostly sunny skies are likely on Saturday with high temperatures in the low-70s. By Sunday, a few showers may become possible, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s on Sunday.

WARM TEMPS ACROSS REGION TODAY; FEW SHOWERS FARTHER INLAND… Temperatures will soar into the low-80s across our region on this Wednesday. Just like yesterday, the vast majority of local communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry. I cannot completely rule out a few showers and thunderstorms across parts of west Alabama today, mainly in areas to the west of the Alabama River. Severe storms, however, are not expected. Slightly cooler temperatures will arrive this weekend, although there is less certainty about the forecast for Friday as cold air may not move as far south as previously thought. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.

DENSE FOG ADVISORY THIS MORNING… The local National Weather Service continues a Dense Fog Advisory for many counties across the region this morning. Please take it slow and easy if you’re driving this morning as fog is, indeed, dense in many spots across the region. The dense fog should burn off by 10AM areawide.

WARM TEMPS TO PERSIST THROUGH FRIDAY… High temperatures will be around the 80 degree mark today and again on Thursday. While slightly cooler air will arrive Friday, there is a real chance high temperatures will end up being a bit warmer than suggested in previous forecasts. For now, we will continue to suggest a high near 70. Depending on how fast a frontal boundary arrives from the north, we may have to adjust projected high temperatures for Friday a bit higher. Showers will be possible on Friday across the region.
