CLEARING SKIES TODAY; FEW SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… Rain and thunderstorms are on the way out to our east today and skies will gradually become mostly sunny this afternoon. High temperatures on this Thursday will be in the mid- to upper-70s across the region. Some spots may briefly flirt with the 80 degree mark this afternoon. Looking ahead, we have a dry Friday on tap ahead of the potential for a few showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, mainly in the morning hours. We’re also looking ahead to Tuesday of the upcoming week when (don’t shoot the messenger, please!) we have yet another round of strong to severe thunderstorms being possible. A few more Thursday morning forecast notes are below.

SEVERE STORMS TO OUR EAST TODAY… Our severe weather risk is done for the day across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. The weather system responsible for all of the storms last night has moved to our east. A severe weather risk will happen over the next several hours across parts of the Carolinas, Georgia, central stretches of the Florida Panhandle, and north Florida. The Storm Prediction Center has defined multiple Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk zones from Florida northward to the mid-Atlantic region. Please be aware of this if you’re traveling today.

HIGHS NEAR 80 OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Dry weather is ahead for the afternoon hours today and into your Friday. High temperatures will be around the 80 degree mark over the next several days and into the weekend. A few showers and storms may happen on Saturday, but for now, the severe weather risk remains rather low.

MORE STORMS POSSIBLE TUESDAY… Rain chances will rise on Monday evening into Tuesday as as another storm system gets set to cross the Deep South. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, but it is a bit too early to nail down specifics as to where the severe weather risk will maximize. Please stay tuned for details over the next few days as our active severe weather season continues.
