40% CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM DEVELOPING IN S.W. GULF… Heavy rain and gusty winds will accompany a tropical disturbance in the southwestern Gulf moving toward northern Mexico and south Texas in the days ahead. Right now, local impacts in south Alabama and northwest Florida are not expected from this system, regardless of if formal development happens. The National Hurricane Center indicates in their 8PM discussion that development odds have increased to around a 40% chance.

LOCALLY – MORE RAIN & STORMS… I realize this is probably the last thing most folks want to hear around our local area. It looks like more in the way of showers and thunderstorms will be possible overnight and likely again on Friday. Scattered thunderstorms will be under severe limits in most cases, but some of the storms may be strong at times with gusty winds being possible. There is no discernible tornado risk tonight or on Friday. Storms may be loud and proud at times, however.

SCATTERED STORMS AROUND THIS WEEKEND… The prevailing pattern continues into the weekend with more scattered storms being possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Most of the thunderstorms this weekend will happen in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s this weekend with morning lows around the 70 degree mark.

I will have a fresh look at the forecast, including a look at the projected radar for each hour on Friday, in the next regularly scheduled RedZone Weather forecast video set to be posted tomorrow by 7:15AM.
