RAIN THIS MORNING; DRIER & MILDER OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida over the next several hours. Rain totals will generally be less than 1.5″ in all communities across the region. High temperatures will be in the low 60s at 3PM. Rain clears out this afternoon into the early evening hours. Temperatures will warm into the mid 60s on Tuesday with dry conditions expected throughout the day. We have an increasingly milder pattern as we get into the latter part of the week with our next significant chance of rain (after today) on Friday into Saturday.
RAIN MOVES TO OUR EAST THIS AFTERNOON… Isolated thunderstorms are not completely out of the question on this Monday, but most of the rain will happen in the form of showers today. Rain chances will start tapering off between 11AM-2PM. Most, if not all of the rain will be to our east by 3PM. The Storm Prediction Center has included much of the region in their “general thunderstorms” zone, but we note that no formal severe weather risk zone is in place today.
HIGHS IN 70s LATER THIS WEEK… High temperatures will in the low to mid 70s by the time we get to Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There could be a few highly isolated rain showers around on Wednesday evening but most locales should remain dry.
SCATTERED SHOWERS ON FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… Showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will become possible Friday P.M. into Saturday as an area of low pressure approaches our region from the west. For now, it looks like this will simply be a rain event with very little concern for severe weather issues. If that changes over the next few days, I will let you know in the RedZone Weather app.
NO SEVERE WEATHER OR WINTRY PRECIPITATION IN FORECAST… Temperatures will trend above average for this time of year over the next few days. I am not seeing anything in the short or long range that would suggest any type of winter weather threat. No snow, no mixed precipitation, no excessively cold air. I realize we had viral misinformation making the rounds last week suggesting that, but that was simply a fake news rumor. Temperatures will be much more tolerable in the days ahead and likely into the weekend and next week as well.
