MOSTLY CLOUDY & MILD WEDNESDAY; RAIN EXPECTED FRIDAY MORNING… Skies will remain mostly cloudy on this Wednesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will reach the low 70s in many spots this afternoon. No rain is expected today during the daytime hours but we may have a few sprinkles and isolated rain showers around tonight, specifically between 6PM and 11PM. Most locales will remain completely dry today into tonight with only a small (10%) chance of any rain. Thursday is expected to be dry and mild ahead of our next chance of rain on Friday.

WARMER TEMPERATURES TOMORROW… We will likely reach the mid 70s for afternoon highs own Thursday with partly cloudy skies throughout the day. The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Louisiana and east Texas in a severe weather risk valid for Thursday into Thursday evening. Thursday is expected to be a dry day locally.

RAIN & THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY AT TIMES FRIDAY, MAINLY IN MORNING… Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage across the region Thursday night into Friday ahead of a frontal boundary pushing through. Widespread severe storms continue to seem unlikely due to very low amounts of surface-based instability. This is a classic, wintertime “high shear, low CAPE” event, and it seems like the low amounts of convective available potential energy (CAPE) will be low enough that any storms that do form should remain below severe limits. The Storm Prediction Center may opt to include part of our region in a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk.

TRENDING DRIER THIS WEEKEND; MILD TEMPS TO CONTINUE… This weekend will be QUITE nice! Saturday is the first day of February and temperatures will be running about 10-15 degrees above our climatological norms. High temperatures will be in the low 70s Saturday afternoon with mid 70s likely on Sunday afternoon. Partly cloudy skies are expected Saturday with mostly sunny skies on Sunday.

NICE, DRY PATTERN EARLY NEXT WEEK… Mostly sunny and mild conditions will continue on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week. High temperatures will likely be in the mid 70s with morning lows in the 40s.

NO SIGNS OF ARCTIC BLAST, WINTRY PRECIP, OR SEVERE WEATHER… Despite viral misinformation that spread like wildfire across social media last week, there continue to be zero indications of any threat of another prolonged, significant Arctic blast of air anytime soon for the local area. Model guidance continues to point to MILD, nice conditions in the first few days of February.
