MOSTLY CLOUDY MONDAY; RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY… Clouds will persist most of the day on this Monday with high temperatures expected to be in the low 70s. A few sprinkles will be possible today, particularly closer to the Alabama beaches. Active weather is on the way over the next few days with multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms likely from Tuesday to Thursday. Our local area will be sandwiched between two air masses as a frontal boundary stalls nearby. This boundary will act as a focal zone for multiple disturbances to move through, bringing chances of rain and thunderstorms through Thursday. We’re also looking ahead to the upcoming weekend when strong storms may become possible on Saturday ahead of our next shot of cold air on Sunday.

A FEW SPRINKLES TODAY… Most locations across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain completely dry on this Monday. A few widely scattered sprinkles and light rain showers will be possible, mainly in parts of Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia (FL), and Santa Rosa counties in areas closer to the immediate coast. Rain likely won’t last long in any one spot. Skies will remain mostly cloudy for much of the day with high temperatures into the low 70s across the region.

SCATTERED STORMS ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will become possible on Tuesday. Heavier, more consistent rain will be likely at times across Mississippi along with north and central parts of Alabama. Storms will be more scattered in nature across south Alabama and northwest Florida. I am not expecting widespread severe storms on Tuesday or Wednesday locally. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s each day.

RAIN & STORMS ON THURSDAY… There is a chance Wednesday night into Thursday morning may be the time when thunderstorms are most numerous across the local area. Heavy rain will be possible at times. For now, severe weather parameters remain low through Thursday.

DRIER, BRIEFLY, ON FRIDAY… Friday will probably be the driest day in the next several days as our local area gets a brief break from the scattered rain and storms. Highs on Friday will be in the upper 60s with partly cloudy skies throughout the day.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY; COLDER AIR ON SUNDAY… Heavy rain and thunderstorms will be possible on Saturday ahead of an advancing cold front. There is a chance of a few strong to severe thunderstorms, depending on the exact setup. It is too early for specific details but this is something that will need to be monitored over the next few days. Temperatures will “go the wrong way” all day on Sunday. Air temperatures just after midnight Saturday night into Sunday will be in the 60s but temperatures on Sunday afternoon will only be in the low to mid 50s. Highs on Monday of the upcoming week will likely only in the 50s.
