PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; DRY FRIDAY; SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT… Rain has moved to our east this morning, paving the way for drier, nicer conditions as we get into the afternoon and evening hours on this Thursday. High temperatures will be in the 60s in most locales across the region with 50s further inland. There is a chance some communities in northwest Florida will have highs near or just above 70°. Quite a temperature spread across the region today! Mostly sunny skies are likely on Friday ahead of another severe weather setup on Saturday night.
RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES SATURDAY; SEVERE WEATHER RISK SATURDAY NIGHT… Scattered thunderstorms will be possible during the daytime hours of Saturday. Not everyone will have rain during the day on Saturday, but I expect some communities probably will. We have another chance of severe storms on Saturday night into early Sunday morning. These storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and perhaps a few tornadoes as well. The main part of this severe weather risk will happen across Mississippi and west Alabama, meaning there is a good chance this system maximizes a bit to our north. Regardless, there will be enough instability and shear overlap to likely cause a few severe storms across our local area in south Alabama and northwest Florida.
SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY… 10PM Saturday to 8AM Sunday is the window for strong to severe storms across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. This will probably be a quick-moving squall line, capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes. More significant weather issues, including strong tornadoes, may become possible to our northwest in parts of central Mississippi and perhaps even west Alabama. Forecast changes are possible. Please check back for updates over the next couple of days.
