TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 4AM FOR ALL LOCAL COUNTIES… All of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida are included in the Tornado Watch that is in effect until 4AM CST. This includes Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Covington, Escambia (AL), Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia (FL) counties. This Tornado Watch also includes all parts of southeast Mississippi, much of central Alabama, and all of north Alabama.

The severe line of thunderstorms is currently moving through Mississippi as of 9:41PM. The line stretches from areas near Nashville, Tennessee southward to Natchez, Mississippi. Storms will move into the Jackson (MS) metro shortly. We note that one supercell thunderstorm has fired up out ahead of the main line of storms. This supercell storm is currently near McComb and Brookhaven, MS.

Storms will continue moving eastward over the next several hours. Issues will be possible in parts of southeast Mississippi as soon as 10:30PM. I am expecting quiet weather conditions to continue across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida until at least 11:30PM or possibly even midnight. The threat ramps up after that.

I will be monitoring conditions and posting updates in the RedZone Weather app over the next several hours. We will “go live” if/when tornado warnings are required a bit later for southwest Alabama and northwest Florida.
