QUITE COLD TODAY; FRIGID CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT; MILDER THIS WEEKEND… Temperatures will struggle to get to 45° in many communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday. Some locales north of U.S. Highway 84 may not get to the 40 degree mark this afternoon. This will be the coldest day since our record breaking Arctic blast several weeks ago when the historic snow event happened. Fortunately (or unfortunately, for some), no snow or mixed precipitation is in the forecast today, tonight, or at any point in the next 7 days. Overnight lows tonight will be in the low 20s with wind chill values in the 10s in many spots. You’ll almost certainly need a heavy jacket tomorrow morning! Milder temperatures are on the way as we get into the weekend.
WIND CHILL VALUES AS LOW AS 10° OVERNIGHT... Tonight will be QUITE cold with overnight lows in the upper 10s and low 20s. Wind chill values may drop into the single digits in areas north of U.S. Highway 84. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for all local counties overnight into tomorrow morning.
MILDER PATTERN ON THE WAY FOR THE WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK… Temperatures will be on the up swing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but the warmup will be rather gradual. Highs on Friday will be around the 50 degree mark with upper 50s likely on Saturday. We’ll be in the low 60s by Sunday afternoon with 70s likely next week.
FEW RAIN SHOWERS POSSIBLE ON SUNDAY… No snow or mixed precipitation is in the forecast but we are expecting a few areas of rain to be possible locally on Sunday, particularly in the early morning hours. Widespread severe storms are not expected.
