ISOLATED POP-UP STORMS THIS EVENING; WARM TEMPS THRU THE WEEK… Most locales across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry on this Monday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this evening, mainly between 3PM and 8PM. These storms will be widely spaced and won’t last long in any given location. Widespread severe storms are not expected locally today. The next several days will feature a similar weather pattern with widely scattered P.M. storms with highs in the upper 80s.
FEW WIDELY SCATTERED STORMS LATER TODAY… The seabreeze effect will kick in today, similar to yesterday, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms across south Alabama and northwest Florida this evening. Any storms that develop should be fairly short-lived (less than 45 minutes in nearly all cases). There is no formal risk of any severe storms locally today.
MAJOR SEVERE WEATHER RISK FOR PARTS OF IOWA, MINNESOTA, AND WISCONSIN… The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of the Midwestern U.S. in an uncommon Level 4 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for later today into tonight. The greatest risk corridor will happen in parts of Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Significant tornadoes will be possible in parts of those states later today.
LOW-END RAIN CHANCES THRU FRIDAY… Locally, we will be in a very consistent weather pattern tomorrow through Thursday with low (not zero) rain chances. Most of the showers and thunderstorms that form in the heat of the day over the next few days will occur in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will consistently be in the mid to upper 80s with morning lows in the 60s.
SCATTERED STORMS FRIDAY… Rain chances will increase across the local area on Friday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. This cold front will not usher in a significant burst of cooler air, but it will provide needed lift to cause a few showers and thunderstorms. It is a bit too early to know if severe storms will be a real possibility, but parameters do not look particularly supportive of severe storms as of now. This is something I’ll be watching over the next few days.
