MAINLY SUNNY & WARM TODAY; FEW P.M. STORMS TO THE EAST… Today will be mostly sunny and dry across the vast majority of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible on the eastern side of our local area, specifically in parts of Covington and Okaloosa counties, after 2PM. Rain chances are slightly greater today to our east across parts of southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle region. Spotty storms will be the norm at times this afternoon into this evening in those areas. Low-end rain chances will persist tomorrow and Thursday ahead of greater rain chances on Friday.
SCATTERED STORMS FRIDAY… Rain chances will increase across the local area on Friday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. This cold front will NOT usher in a significant burst of cooler air, but it will provide needed lift to cause a few showers and thunderstorms. It is a bit too early to know if severe storms will be a real possibility, but parameters do not look particularly supportive of severe storms as of now. This is something I’ll be watching over the next few days.
