SEVERE STORMS TO OUR NORTH INTO TONIGHT; STORMS POSSIBLE LOCALLY OVERNIGHT… Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible today across the northern halves of Alabama and Mississippi. We are NOT expecting widespread severe storms across south Alabama or northwest Florida, but we will have scattered showers and thunderstorms (likely well below severe limits, locally) overnight into Wednesday morning. The Storm Prediction Center continues to include much of the northern half of Alabama in their Level 3 (out of 5) enhanced severe weather risk today due to the potential of a few tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail in the strongest of the storms.

A FEW, HIGHLY ISOLATED STORMS TODAY… Most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry today but one or two rogue showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Severe storms are not expected during the daytime hours on this Tuesday across south Alabama or northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the low 90s in most spots. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.

SPOTTY STORMS OVERNIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY LOCALLY… We’ll be watching thunderstorms overnight into Wednesday morning that could produce a lot of lightning. These storms, however, will probably be well under severe limits. Storms will likely enter the northern part of our area (Clarke, Washington, Monroe, Butler counties) in the 3-6AM time frame tomorrow morning, gradually pushing south throughout the morning. We note that storms should be progressively weakening while moving south across our region.

SLIGHTLY COOLER, DRIER END TO THE WEEK… High temperatures are expected to drop back into the low 80s on Thursday and Friday with overnight lows in the 60s across much of the region by Thursday night into early Friday morning. This will be a rather brief cool snap that won’t last long. Highs will rebound into the 90s next week.

TROPICS QUIET… The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season will kick off on Sunday, June 1. No signs of any preseason storms in the Gulf, the Caribbean, or the Atlantic at this point.
