MAINLY SUNNY TODAY W/ ONE OR TWO STORMS; WET PATTERN KICKS OFF EARLY NEXT WEEK… Most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry on this Friday. One or two highly isolated showers and thunderstorms cannot completely be ruled out, particularly across parts of west Alabama closer to the Mississippi state line. High temperatures will be near the 90 degree mark today. Rain chances will start to creep upward tomorrow, but even then, the overall chance of rain for any given community remains quite low. Memorial Day Monday is when rain chances will be high across much of the region as scattered showers and thunderstorms increase in coverage.

SCATTERED STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES MONDAY AND TUESDAY… We continue to see signs that showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage early next week, starting on Memorial Day Monday. Most of the showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the P.M. hours. If you have outdoor plans slated for Monday, make sure to have an indoor backup plan ready as thunderstorms may develop quickly. Rain chances will remain fairly elevated on Tuesday and Wednesday of the upcoming week as well.

TROPICS QUIET; FEAR MONGERS BEGIN THEIR POSTINGS… The Gulf, Caribbean, and Atlantic continue to be quiet, for now. The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season will kick off on Sunday, June 1. We are now in the part of the year for the hype casters and fear mongers to post phantom tropical runs. Remember – it’s critical to look at model TRENDS from multiple models, not deterministic, individual runs. It does not have to be me, but please be cognizant of where you get your weather info. Don’t trust the fear monger pages across social media platforms that go viral based on nothing but hype and fake news. Right now, there is ZERO credible evidence suggesting any type of tropical trouble for Alabama or northwest Florida. If that changes, I will let you know in the RedZone Weather app.

APP… If you haven’t already downloaded the RedZone Weather app, now is a great time to do that. redzoneweather.com/app is the link to the free download. Once you have the RZW app installed on your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab to turn on the specific notifications you’d like to receive. All notifications are handcrafted by me. No automation and we promise not to bug you!
