LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK INLAND TODAY… Scattered thunderstorms will be possible today across inland areas of southwest Alabama. Rain chances are much lower closer to the immediate coast.
There is a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk (driven by a potential for gusty winds and hail in the strongest of the storms) for places like Thomasville, Monroeville, Chatom, Evergreen, Brewton, Andalusia, and Troy.
Slightly higher Level 2 (out of 5) risk today for Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Selma, Fayette, Hamilton, Greensboro, Clanton, Hoover, Marion, Centreville, Demopolis, and surrounding areas in west-central Alabama. There is a low-end tornado risk in these areas today.
It won’t rain all day in any given community, but storms may produce localized downpours and lightning.
