ANOTHER DAY WITH SCATTERED STORMS; TRENDING DRIER THIS WEEKEND… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely across the region this afternoon into this evening. Widespread severe storms are not expected, but just like the last few days, one or two of the storms may briefly become strong or marginally severe. The Storm Prediction Center continues to include much of the region in a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for today. Gusty winds and hail will be possible in the strongest of the storms. The overall tornado risk remains quite low. High temperatures today will be in the mid 80s.

MORE SCATTERED STORMS ON FRIDAY… Tomorrow will be quite similar to today and the last few days with a chance of storms, mostly in the afternoon and evening hours. SPC continues the low-end severe weather risk valid for Friday, driven by the potential for gusty winds and hail in the strongest of the storms.

HIGHS IN THE MID 80s THIS WEEKEND; LOWS AROUND THE 60 DEGREE MARK… We’re expecting much lower rain chances (10-20% chances) on Saturday and Sunday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. This means that one or two pop-up storms cannot completely be ruled out, but the overall rain chances will be much lower across the entire region. High temperatures will continue to be in the mid 80s with morning lows a bit below normal for this time of year. Most spots will start the day on Saturday AND on Sunday in the low 60s.

TROPICAL UPDATE… Tropical storm formation is not expected across the Gulf, the Caribbean, or the Atlantic over the next 5-7 days. Longer range models have hinted at the possibility of some tropical mischief in the western Caribbean or far southern Gulf in the Bay of Campeche region in the 10-14 day range but there is considerable uncertainty right now as to if conditions will be favorable to support a tropical storm. The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off this Sunday, June 1. There is a high chance of a tropical storm forming several hundred miles off the southern coast of Mexico in the eastern Pacific Ocean in the days ahead.
