ONE MORE ROUND OF SCATTERED STORMS LATER TODAY; DRIER THIS WEEKEND… We have one more round of scattered showers and thunderstorms before we get to a drier weather pattern slated to kick off late tonight and last through the weekend. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop as we get into the afternoon and evening hours. Some of the storms may briefly become strong or severe. The overall tornado threat is not zero, but it is quite low. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the two main hazard concerns today.

LOW-END, LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY… Today will be the last day, through the weekend anyway, that our area will be involved in a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone. The risk is driven by the potential for gusty winds in the strongest of the thunderstorms.

DRIER, NICE WEEKEND… High temperatures will be in the mid 80s this weekend with refreshing temperatures expected on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s in many communtiies across the region.

HURRICANE SEASON STARTS SUNDAY; TROPICAL STORM ALVIN IN PACIFIC… The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off on Sunday, June 1. There are no active, named storms in the Gulf, Caribbean, or the Atlantic. Tropical storm formation is not expected over the weekend or early next week. Tropical Storm Alvin is moving north in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The system will approach the Baja Peninsula of Mexico early next week as the system weakens.
