MAINLY DRY TODAY; INCREASING RAIN CHANCES OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS… Rain chances remain low (not zero) on this Tuesday but the next several days will feature increased chances of rain and thunderstorms across the region. While I cannot completely rule out a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening, MOST of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry. High temperatures will be in the low 90s across the region. Rain chances are slated to be a bit higher as we get into the latter half of the week with P.M. pop-up showers and thunderstorms becoming the norm.

TROPICS: 10% CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM DEVELOPING OFF CAROLINA COAST… The National Hurricane Center posted the first “area of interest” in the Tropical Weather Outlook for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. NHC suggests this system has a 10% chance of briefly becoming a named tropical storm while drifting northeast off the Carolina coast later this week. From NHC: “A non-tropical area of low pressure is forecast to form near or offshore of the southeastern U.S. coast during the next couple of days. If the system remains offshore, the low could gradually develop some subtropical or tropical characteristics later this week while moving northeastward at 10 to 15 mph.”

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. There were some outlier model runs that suggested that some tropical mischief could develop in 9-12 days from now, but the model data has backed off considerably on that idea. Good news!
