MORE SCATTERED P.M. STORMS TODAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… P.M. pop-up thunderstorms will develop this afternoon into this evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Storms will be scattered in nature, meaning not every community across the region will have rain before the end of the day. Widespread severe storms are not expected locally today.

LOW-END RISK LOCALLY SATURDAY; SLIGHTLY HIGHER RISK TO THE NORTH… Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms will be possible across the Deep South on Saturday. We note that much of central and north Alabama are involved in the Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk on Saturday with the risk in place primarily because of the risk of damaging wind gusts. Inland areas of southwest Alabama are involved in the Level 1 (out of 5) low-end risk zone on Saturday. IF severe storms happen locally (big IF), I’ll have updates posted in the RedZone Weather app.

TROPICS QUIET… The north Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf are quiet with no tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. Activity generally ramps up in July and August ahead of the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season around September 11 each year.
