ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER ROUND OF P.M. STORMS… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will again dot the landscape across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday. Most of the showers and thunderstorms will happen between 1PM and 7PM. Widespread severe weather is not expected, however, cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and localized downpours of rain will be likely in the strongest of the thunderstorms. If you’re new to our area, this pattern is quite common in the summer months and it is a pattern that will stick around for the next several weeks. Not every community will have rain before the end of the day today, but many probably will. High temperatures will be in the low 90s.
TROPICS: ATLANTIC BASIN, INCLUDING GULF & CARIBBEAN, REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season will happen on September 11.
